MONROE ‘DIVORCE’ DRESS UP FOR AUCTION

The dress that Marilyn Monroe wore to appear in public when announcing the sad news that she and Joe DiMaggio were to divorce is going up for auction.

The dark wool dress with a zippered turtleneck front will be up for bidding starting on March 30, selling through GWS Auctions.

On October 6th 1954, Marilyn Monroe faced an army of photographers and journalists outside the marital home she shared with DiMaggio. Visibly shaken and upset, she barely spoke, leaving the announcement to her attorney, Jerry Giesler.

The dress is expected to fetch between $100,000 – $150,000.
