7TH ANNUAL NORMA JEAN GALA

Marilyn Remembered will be represented at the 7th Annual Norma Jean Gala, taking place on Saturday, May 19 in Los Angeles. Treasures from our club President Greg Schreiner and Scott Fortner’s collection will be on exhibit at the event. Marilyn Monroe estate items and film worn pieces displayed at the gala will be a first, and we’re thrilled to be part of it.  All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit Camp Hollygrove / Uplift Family Services. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNE BAXTER

“I’ll never forget this night as long as I live and I’ll never forget you for making it possible.” – Anne Baxter as Eve in “All About Eve”

Happy Birthday to Oscar winning actress, Anne Baxter on what would have been her 95th birthday.

Granddaughter of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Baxter’s first screen success was in Walter Lang’s “The Great Profile” (1940), followed by “The Magnificent Ambersons” (1942) and an Oscar winning performance in “The Razors Edge” (1946).  Contracted to FOX, she had leading roles in three early Marilyn movies: “All About Eve” (1950), “A Ticket To Tomahawk” (1950), and “O’Henry’s Full House” (1952).  Baxter was originally cast for a part in “Niagara” (1953), one of Marilyn’s first star vehicles, but pulled out of the project before filming began.

In her later career, she made a successful move into Television and worked consistently up until her death in 1986.

REMEMBERING MARLENE DIETRICH

Remembering the legendary and exquisite Marlene Dietrich, who passed away on 6th May in 1992. Marilyn and Marlene met in New York in 1955 but that wasn’t their only connection. Including going down in history as two of Hollywood’s most enduring faces, both women were famously photographed by Milton Greene, Marilyn dressed as Marlene for Richard Avedon and both had very similar gowns designed by Jean-Louis.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUDREY HEPBURN

Happy Birthday to Audrey Hepburn on what would have been her 89th birthday on May 4th. Truman Capote wanted Marilyn to play Holly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The role went instead to Audrey Hepburn and it became a signature role for her. Today Marilyn and Audrey are among the most beloved Hollywood actresses of all time.
