Marilyn Monroe 100th Birthday Celebrations and Events in Los Angeles

The Marilyn Remembered Fan Club is currently planning and coordinating several events to celebrate Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday. Below is our preliminary schedule, which will be updated as details are confirmed. Please check back often for the latest updates.


Thursday, May 28

9AM: MARILYN’S HOLLYWOOD: A definitive guided tour through the city where Marilyn Monroe was born and raised. SOLD OUT

Join us for a rare and unforgettable journey through Marilyn Monroe’s Los Angeles as LA Woman Tours proudly brings back its celebrated Marilyn tour after a hiatus during the pandemic. Presented as part of the worldwide celebration of Marilyn Monroe’s centenary, this special event offers fans an intimate look at the life, career, and legacy of Hollywood’s most enduring icon.

Hosted by acclaimed Marilyn Monroe historian, author, and podcast host Elisa Jordan, this guided tour will take guests across Los Angeles and Hollywood to many of the locations connected to Marilyn’s extraordinary life and career.

From her early years in Hollywood to the height of international fame, guests will experience the places where Marilyn lived, worked, studied, celebrated, struggled, and created cinematic history.

6PM: WELCOME TO MARILYN’S HOMETOWN SOCIAL GATHERING

Kick off Marilyn Monroe Birthday Week with an evening at Bar Next Door on Thursday, May 28.

Beginning at 6:00 PM, guests are invited to stop by, mingle, reconnect with friends, and celebrate the start of an unforgettable week honoring Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday. Before heading in, grab a slice from Prince Street Pizza next door, then proceed inside for cocktails and conversation, including a special menu of Marilyn inspired drinks created for your welcome.

This gathering also takes place in a location with a meaningful connection to Marilyn’s early career. The bar is situated in the same commercial building that once housed the Cukor Lipton Agency, one of Marilyn’s very early representation agencies. Bar Next Door is located at 9159 Sunset Boulevard, where important chapters of her professional journey began.

There is no formal program. This is simply an opportunity to gather together, celebrate the beginning of the week, and enjoy an evening in good company surrounded by fellow Marilyn fans from around the world.

Friday, May 29

1 PM: A panel discussion and Marilyn Monroe exhibit at the Los Angeles Public Library, hosted by the All Things Marilyn Podcast.

Join All Things Marilyn podcast cohosts Scott Fortner and Elisa Jordan at the Los Angeles Public Library on Friday, May 29 for a special program celebrating the release of Marilyn: The Lost Photographs, The Last Interview.

This event is free, but there is a cost for parking. Attendees are encouraged to utilize public transportation.

The panel will feature authors Jason Greene and Chris Flannery, along with special guests Meredith Landis (daughter of journalist Richard Meryman), Karin Grant (wife of photographer Allan Grant), and Krissi Grant (daughter of Allan Grant), exploring Marilyn’s final interview and last formal photo session conducted in her Brentwood home just weeks before her death.

Presented during a year marking the 100th anniversary of both Marilyn Monroe and the Los Angeles Public Library, this event offers a rare opportunity to engage with newly published archival material and reflect on Marilyn’s life and enduring legacy.

All Things Marilyn Podcast

6:00 PM: An Evening at the Egyptian Theatre | A special Marilyn Monroe evening at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, presented in partnership with Julien’s Auctions, will include a panel discussion, a showing of Niagara, and a screening of Marilyn’s Dark Paradisethe award-winning independent film written and directed by Marilyn Remembered Fan Club member Remi Gangarossa. The evening will conclude with a raffle, hosted by Julien’s.

Saturday, May 30

12PM: Marilyn Remembered will host a VIP Reception on Saturday, May 30 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Peter Fetterman Gallery, located at Bergamot Station Arts Center, 2525 Michigan Avenue, Santa Monica, California, in conjunction with the opening of Marilyn Monroe: A Silent Life. The exhibition features iconic works by leading photographers including Eve Arnold, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Philippe Halsman, and Milton Greene, offering a layered and intimate look at Marilyn Monroe’s image and legacy. Attendance is free, and parking is also free.


Sunday, May 31

Official opening day of the Marilyn Monroe Exhibit at the Academy Museum. Hours are 10AM to 6PM. Buy tickets here.

Monday, June 1

Marilyn Monroe 100th Birthday Celebration SOLD OUT

4:30 PM: Lawrence Schiller Book Signing, Panel Discussion, and Screening of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at the TCL Chinese Theatre.

Marilyn Remembered founder and president Greg Schreiner will be on this panel, together with Marilyn Monroe photographer Lawrence Schiller and special guest Oscar and Golden Globe winner George Chakiris. Visit the TCL Chinese Theatres website for further details, soon to be announced.

6:00 PM: Marilyn Monroe Birthday Week Closing Gathering at Bar Next Door

6PM: Closing Social Party | As Marilyn Monroe Birthday Week comes to a close, we invite you to join us for one final evening together at Bar Next Door as we continue celebrating the 100th birthday of Marilyn Monroe.

Beginning at 6:00 PM, guests are welcome to stop by, mingle, and say goodbye to friends old and new after a week of celebration, conversation, and shared appreciation honoring Marilyn’s life and legacy. Before heading in, you can grab a slice from Prince Street Pizza right next door, then make your way to the bar to choose your favorite cocktail from a special menu of Marilyn inspired drinks.
